We spend lots of time at Mikayla's house and have learned a lot about all of the gear that she has. Here is a little tour through all of her stuff:
The Seton Medical Center NICU has room for 35 babies and is one of the best and most equipped in the region. There are 6 aisles, Mikayla is #3. On her aisle, there is room for 7 babies. We have gotten to know the other parents on her aisle pretty well. Unfortunately, that includes the strange mom that sings loudly and off-key to her daughter. Would you believe she even brought in a radio to play music for her daughther for a couple days until the nurse asked her to stop doing it : )
This is her little spot:
The nurses have been amazing and are all so nice. It takes a special person to work at the NICU. Here are 2 helping Mikayla get clean and comfy:

Trip to the Tanning Bed (Day 5)
Tuesday April 24th, Day 5
Mikayla's bilrubin got a little high and so it was time for the blue light. This phototherapy helps get rid of jaundice, which is a normal part of the preemie journey and even pretty normal for many newborns. The doctor told us that it could be as long as a week that she needed to be under the light, but she surprised us all by only needing 1 day under the light. She got to wear her first pair of sunglasses while she relaxed under the light.
The other big news on Day 5 was that she got to move to an Isolette (the box she is sleeping in). She started in an open bed that sits under a radiant warmer to heat her the most. Once she is able to regulate her own temparate, she will graduate from the Isolette to a crib. One step closer to coming home!

First Time Mommy Held Me
Mikayla was born on Friday and I had to wait 24 hours before I was able to go to the NICU to see her on Saturday. I wasn't able to sit up or move about on her birthday after the general anesthesia c-section. Ryan wheeled my up to see her, but we still had to wait 1 more day before we could hold our little princess.
So on Sunday I finally got to hold my baby girl and it was the best! It seemed like quite a production to get her out of the bed with all of her attachments. I got to hold her for about 30 minutes. At this early on it was still too much to hold her more than once per day, but that one time was all I needed.
